Weld Inspection & NDT

Our Weld Inspection & NDT Services

Welder Coding/ Qualification

Alpha X Industrial Service supports businesses with welder coding.

Working together with your business, we assess and review weld configurations whereby each test covers a range of welding variables e.g. material thickness and different welding positions. The sample will also require NDT testing.

Welder coding certificates must be signed and approved by a suitably qualified body to confirm the welder is producing welds of the required standard.

In addition to ASME IX / BS EN ISO 9606/ BS 4872 Alpha X Industrial Service works to support businesses with a range of welder qualifications – for further information regarding the full range of coding – please get in touch for a free quotation today.

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)

Is the process for detection of surface, and slightly sub-surface cessation using finely divided ferromagnetic particles to indicate defects in magnetic materials.

Ferromagnetic particles are applied to the surface, then magnetic yokes are used to generate a magnetic field to pass through and around the surface. These particles register abrupt changes in resistance in the path of the magnetic field, and will therefore be attracted to and outline any cracks or deformations present

Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)

Sometimes called liquid penetrant inspection – is used to locate surface cracks, defects and the porosity of the material. It is easy to perform and easy to clean up, causing minimal disruption to ongoing fabrication , but also only detects defects on the surface of the material.

The test surface gets covered in a film of the penetrant liquid to create a capillary action which will penetrate any defects in the material A developer is then added on the surface to draw out the invisible defects and now make them visible to the technician, sometimes under  normal  light, but also using ultra-violet black light depending on the type of penetrant  used.

Please get in touch to discuss your DPI requirements.

Ultrasonic Testing Inspection (UT)

Alpha X is able to perfom one of the most accurate method of NDT, to detect sub surface flaws deep within the test part, for steel thickness from 8 mm thickness up to as thick as commercially available. this method is very sensitive and will detect extremely small defects

UT uses sound waves to penetrate metals such as steel and other alloys and give readings on a diagnostic machine . Short ultrasonic pulses are passed through the metal. As there are no hazardous chemicals used, it is safe any people working nearby don’t need to leave the area. The results from this method of NDT are instant you  can see any defects as he moves the sensor across the material surface.

Please get in touch with to discuss your UT requirements.

Visual Inspection

Visual Inspection Alpha X Industrial Service supports businesses with visual inspection – a method of the non destructive testing in accordance to BS EN 5817 / ASME standards. This NDT method is advisably performed before other NDT techniques. By doing this, it allows you to prevent any detrimental or chemical damage to the material and identifies defects before the weld is completed.

Please get in touch with to discuss your NDT requirements.

Rope Access

AlphaX Industrial Service provides inspection and NDT services through rope access. By using rope access methods, we can reach difficult locations in order to carry out NDT and inspection; often with minimal impact on other operations, surrounding areas and the environment.

The primary objective when using rope access methods is to carry out the work efficiently, with safety being first priority. Careful planning and documented risk assessments are undertaken for each rope access operation. AlphaX Industrial Service is accredited by IRATA.

Please get in touch with to discuss your requirements.

Vessel Inspection API-510

Alpha X Industrial Service can supports businesses with vessel inspection to the API-510 codeTo comply with PSSR regulations, you will need regular vessel inspections at defined intervals as detailed in a written scheme of examination. One requirement also stipulated by the PSSR’s is that the vessel inspections are carried out by a competent individual.

API-510 is a recognised code for pressure vessel inspection Alpha X Industrial Service can provide inspectors that are formally assessed and certified to API-510.

Please get in touch with to discuss your Vessel inspection requirements.
